Another round of nasty winter weather is expected to impact parts of New York State and that has caused the National Weather Service to issue Winter Weather Advisories for parts of New York State.

Much of the state had all their winter weather warnings expire on Thursday, but another cold arctic blast from Canada is going to bring more snow to parts of New York State today and through the weekend.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for several counties in New York State. Most of these counties are along Lake Erie and Lake Ontario and lake effect snow could be heavy at times.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Erie counties from 3 pm tonight until 1 pm on Friday. An additional 3-6 inches of lake effect snow is possible in those areas with windy conditions. Travel could be impacted by this round of snow.

A Winter Weather Advisory is also in place for Jefferson County from 6 pm tonight until 6 am on Friday morning. Another 2-5 inches of snow is expected during the next 24 hours.

The biggest area of concern is in Oswego County. A Winter Weather Advisory is in place from 6 pm tonight until 1 am on Saturday. Another 6 to 12 inches of snow is possible during the advisory with travel issued possible due to blowing snow.

Snow is expected to continue through Saturday night for much of the Western and Northern parts of the state.

The good news is that Sunday should be a mix of sun and clouds with no snow expected. It is expected to get warmer as well, we could see a high near 30.
