Severe Weather Alerts Issued In New York State
Monday will be a windy wild day across New York State.
Wind speeds could gust up to 60 miles per hour and that could cause tree limbs to fall and other possible damage.
The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a High Wind Warning for Niagara, Orleans, Jefferson, Monroe, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, and Chautauqua counties starting this morning at 7 am and lasting until 6 am on Tuesday.
There will be steady wind speeds of between 30 and 40 miles per hour and gusts up to 60 miles per hour. The strongest winds will take place along the northern part of the region.
Travel might be impacted by the winds as well, especially high-profile vehicles and along open roads in Western New York.

There is also a Lake Effect Snow warning in place for Oswego, Jefferson, and Lewis counties. That alert remains in place until 6 am this morning. There is a chance of another 6 to 12 inches of snow in that region. The snow will continue into Tuesday as well. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued starting at 6 am this morning and will continue into the overnight hours tonight.
Due to the wind and snow, whiteout conditions are possible in the area and travel will be impacted. The winds could also cause damage to trees and powerlines.
The rest of New York State outside of these areas is under a hazardous weather alert. The potential for hazardous weather and localized snow flurries is possible. You should stay alert to the weather around over the next several days.
