Two storms have moved across New York State overnight making the morning commute dicey.

Rain, wet snow, and measurable snow are all impacting the morning commute and that means you should give yourself some extra time to head into work or school this morning.

Here are some tips to make sure you get to where you need to be this morning safely.

1. Slow Down - One of the easiest ways to stay safe is to make sure you are not driving too fast for the road conditions. That even means going below the posted speed limit. Make sure to turn on your hazard lights if you are driving below the speed limit.

2. Double-check your tires. You want to make sure they are properly inflated and make sure that there is enough tread on your tires. You can use a quarter to see if your tires have good tread. Insert a quarter into your tread groove. If the tread doesn't touch George Washington's head, you should think about replacing your tires.

3. Make sure your floor mats are clear of slush and snow. If this builds up it could hamper your ability to use your gas and brake pedals.
