The winter weather looks like it will have an impact on your morning commute today.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has extended their Winter Weather Advisory an extra 6 hours until 10 am this morning. Originally the advisory was expected to expire at 4 am this morning, but possible lake effect snow could cause issues this morning.

It will be another cold start to our Friday with temperatures in the teens and there are some slim bands of lake effect snow moving across the region this morning.

An additional 1-2 inches of new snow is possible this morning and that could cause issues with snow and ice-covered roads around Western New York.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, most of the lake effect snow bands will remain in the Northern part of Western New York with Niagara and Northern Erie County getting most of the snow this morning.

On top of snow-covered and slippery roads, you should be careful when walking. Sidewalks, stairs, and railings could be very slippery this morning.

The good news is that we will see some sunshine and a bit of a warmup heading into the weekend. Saturday is looking like a mix of sun and clouds for most of the day with a high near 30.
