More winter weather is bearing down on New York State this weekend.

The weekend forecast is calling for plenty of rain, sleet, and snow with some areas in New York looking at getting over a foot of snow between today and Sunday night.

Depending on how far the northern storm front drops into New York will depend on how much snow will be dumped on the state. It looks like most of the state will have some snow with areas along Lake Erie and Lake Ontario looking to get blasted with the most.

One of the major issues outside of the snow will be the mix of rain, freezing rain, and sleet. That could cause very icy road conditions and have a big impact on travel across the state.

Weather advisories have already been issued for parts of New York as well. A Winter Weather advisory is in place for Central and Downstate New York starting this morning at 9 am and going until 9 am on Sunday.

A Winter Storm Warning is in place for much of the Northern part of New York until Sunday night. 7 plus inches of snow is possible in that region.

Officials with New York State are warning people that if you don't have to be out and about stay home during this weather system.

We should be done with the snow but Monday morning but temperatures are expected to remain well below normal with highs in only the teens for President's Day.
