
Risk Of Tornado In Western New York This Week
We will be dealing with some unsettled weather this week across Western New York. On top of scattered rain showers, we are under a risk for severe weather, along with possible tornadoes, across the region.
Severe Weather Possible In Western New York
After some pop-up and scattered showers today in Western New York, things will get a little nastier as a storm front is expected to move across the region late tonight and into Tuesday.
That front will bring a chance of severe weather for all of Western New York. It will also be very humid over the next couple of days with a heat index into the 90s on Wednesday.
Tornado Risk For Western New York
On top of hail and damaging winds for Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, there is also an elevated risk of tornadoes for Western New York. While the risk is low, it could still happen across the region.

So far, there have been 16 confirmed tornadoes in New York State in 2026. Two tornadoes were confirmed just last week in Saratoga County. This year, there have been three confirmed tornadoes in Western New York.
