It looks like Mother Nature is set to give New York State one final shot of Winter to start the month of March.

A cold arctic blast is sweeping across the state this weekend, leaving many areas covered in snow and dealing with well below freezing temperatures.

Starting in Western New York, temperatures will drop into the 20s this weekend with wind chills in the single digits and even below freezing in some locations. There is also a chance of 2-6 inches of snow by the end of Sunday.

Bitter cold will also impact Downstate New York. The temperatures this weekend could be in the teens with the lows dropping into single digits. New York City's high temperature today is expected to be around 35, but will only be near 18 on Sunday.

The good news is that this should be a short-lived blast of winter weather. Milder temperatures are on the horizon with projected highs in the 40s and 50s for mid-week next week.
