Traveling to be with family and friends this Thanksgiving could be impacted by several winter storms that are likely to develop across New York State next week.

The Wednesday day before Thanksgiving is usually one of the busiest travel days of the year and this year it looks like Mother Nature could make it more daunting with several possible winter storms moving across New York.

Let's start out in Western New York, where they could see another November winter storm that brings Lake Effect snow that will be measured in feet, not inches.

Last November, The snow came a week before Thanksgiving when cities like Orchard Park, Hamburg, and Lackawanna got over 30 inches of snow. This year, it looks like another massive amount of Lake Effect snow is on the way starting on Wednesday and lasting into Thanksgiving.

If you are flying or traveling into Buffalo and the surrounding area, you can expect some delays. If you are traveling to Central New York, Most of the snow will stay along the Lake Ontario lake shore. If you have kids who attend SUNY Oswego, getting home might take a bit longer, otherwise travel in and around Syracuse and Binghamton should be normal.

Down in New York City, the biggest issue will be the winds. While there will be no snow, gusty winds could cause some delays at airports in and around New York City. Also, the gusty winds could impact one of the biggest Thanksgiving Day traditions in New York City, The Macy's Day Parade. If the winds are too gusty, they will not be allowed to fly the balloons.

The good news is that it is still early and we could see some of these forecasts change, but the best bet is to double-check your travel plans and have a backup plan just in case the weather gets nasty.
