Winter is looking like it is set to pack a punch for Western New York. New forecasts are calling for a potential historical winter snowstorm to slam into Western New York starting on Sunday.

Up to 20 inches Of Snow For Western New York

The newest weather forecasts for Western New York have a massive snow event coming to the 716. Snow totals could be measured in feet, not inches, between Sunday and Wednesday. The snow and wind will make travel very dangerous over the next couple of days.

Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel
  treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Travel will be very
  difficult in deep snow covered roads. Areas of blowing snow will
  significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will
  impact the Monday evening through the Wednesday morning commutes.
  Gusty winds will down tree branches and cause isolated power
  outages.

So far this year, Buffalo has received around 43 inches of snow. This storm could add 50% to the total in Western New York.

Dangerous Wind Chills Expected Across Western New York

On top of the snow, the winds will also drop wind chills in Western New York to dangerous levels. The wind chills could drop to between -5 and -15 degrees during this snow event, with the coldest temperatures coming Monday night into Tuesday.
