No More “Wind Chill” Warnings For New York State
There is one weather phrase we don't have to worry about this winter in New York State.
We no longer have to worry about "Wind Chill" warnings or advisories being issued by the National Weather Service. They announced this week that they will no longer issue any kind of "wind chill" warnings.

The National Weather Service will replace the "Wind Chill" watches and warnings with three new advisories.
COLD WEATHER ADVISORY
A Cold Weather Advisory will be issued when cold air temperatures or wind chill values are expected or occurring.
EXTREME COLD WATCH
Extreme Cold Watches will be issued when dangerously cold air temperatures or wind chill values are possible. You should limit or adjust your plans to avoid being outside during the coldest parts of the day.
EXTREME COLD WARNING
An Extreme Cold Warning is issued when dangerously cold air temperatures or wind chill values are expected or occurring. You should avoid going outside. If you have to go outside, dress in layers, and cover exposed skin.

These new warnings and advisories will allow the National Weather Service to issue warnings without worrying about winds. If the temperatures get cold enough on a non-windy day, these alerts can still be issued.
