Possible Snowicane Headed To New York State?
Winter weather is coming to New York State and while much of the state will be above average when it comes to the temperatures that could be far from the truth for parts of the State.
Some early weather models are calling for a possible "Snowicane" to hit parts of New York State.
WHAT IS A SNOWICANE?
The term snowicane is used when hurricane-like weather runs into cold snow producing weather and you could end up with hurricane-like weather but with snow instead of rain.
WHEN COULD A SNOWICANE IMPACT NEW YORK STATE?
HOW COMMON ARE SNOWICANES?
They are not common at all. The last time the term was used was in 2010 when a massive blizzard moved up the East Coast and produced hurricane-like winds with snow. The term was first used back in 1804 when a storm moved across New England.

Again these are early forecasts and weather changes daily. Overall the forecasters with the National Weather Service are calling for above-average temperatures for much of New York State for the month of November.
