Enjoy the warm weather this week because things could change in the next couple of weeks.

Early long-ranger forecasts are calling for cold arctic air to move from Northwest Canada and blast over the warmer Lake Erie and Lake Ontario and that could lead to massive lake effect snow across parts of New York State.

The Old Farmer's Almanac is also calling for possible heavy lake effect snow across New York this month. Their prediction is calling for those lake effect snow showers about a week later than the model above.

Overall they are predicting a warmer November than normal with about the same amount of precipitation. That would make sense since lake effect snow bands can be very narrow and impact a small amount of the state.

Nov 9-11Sunny, milder
Nov 12-19Rainy periods, warm
Nov 20-28Snow showers, heavy lake snows east, then sunny; cold
Nov 29-30Showers, milder
Novembertemperature 42° (1° above avg.)
precipitation 2.5" (avg.)

Much of the lake effect snow will be in Western and Northern New York but parts of Central New York could see snow flurries around the same time.
