Wildfires along the East Coast will impact the air quality for parts of New York today.

The winds have shifted to the Northeast and that will bring hazy smoke and poor air quality to New York City and the surrounding areas.


Due to the wildfires and the dry conditions we have had across the state, a burn ban is in place for all of New York State until November 30th.

Here are some tips to help limit the amount of smoke that enters your home or business.

Keep windows and doors closed.
Use fans and air conditioning to stay cool.
Avoid activities that create more fine particles indoors, including:
Smoking cigarettes. Using gas, propane, or wood-burning stoves and furnaces.
Don't use Spraying aerosol products, or burn candles and incense.
Don't vacuum, unless you use a vacuum with a HEPA filter.
