Wildfire Smoke Returns To New York Over Weekend

Things are expected to get smoky and hazy again this weekend across New York. Smoke from wildfires out West and in Canada will come back through the state this weekend and into next week.

Wildfire Smoke Returns To New York

There is good and bad news when it comes to the wildfire smoke in New York. The bad news is that it is expected to return this weekend and be with us for the next couple of days; the good news is that much of the smoke will not drop down low, limiting the amount of air quailty issued we will have.

It was only last week we were dealing with some of the worst air quality in the world in New York due to the smoke. If you are in a high-risk category for respiratory issues, make sure to limit your time outdoors during smoky days.

Wetter Than Normal Month Of August In New York

One reason we won't have to worry too much about the smoke past next week is that the Old Farmer's Almanac is calling for a wetter-than-normal month of August for New York.

We are expected to see more rain than normal with long stretches of rain throughout the month. The rain should help dissipate the smoke particles from the wildfires, limiting the amount of issues with our air quality.
