Another hot and humid day across New York State has led to a severe weather alert for parts of the state.

Much of New York is under a heat advisory today and also under an alert for severe thunderstorms.

According to the National Weather Service, the biggest concern is damaging wind gusts that would be associated with those thunderstorms.

On top of the weather alert for severe thunderstorms, much of the state is also facing hot and humid conditions as a heat dome has set up over much of the state.

If you need to be outside make sure to drink plenty of water and have access to shade or a place with air conditions so you can cool off.

The hot and humid weather is expected to last through this weekend with a bit of relief with a cold front moving into the state by early next week.
