The weather is going to get really nasty over the next several days across New York State.

The National Weather Service in New York State has issued several winter weather alerts for the state.

In Western New York, there is a Lake Effect snow warning that will start at 1 am on Monday and last until 10 am on Wednesday. There could be up to 16 inches of snow for the Southern Tier and Southtowns.

A Winter Weather advisory is also in place for Niagara, Orleans, and Monroe counties. That warning will last from 10 pm tonight until 4 am on Monday. 4-8 inches of snow is possible during that time.

In Central New York, There is a lake effect snow warning for Oswego, Jefferson, and Lewis counties from 1 pm on Monday to 4 pm on Wednesday. There could be 2 to 3 feet of snow in the Tug Hill region of New York.

Downstate there is a Winter Storm Warning in place for most of the region surrounding New York City. That warning is in place from 1 pm today until 4 am on Wednesday. Heavy snow is expected during that time where another to 7 inches of snow is expected.


The good news is that we should see a change in our weather as we get towards the end of the week and into next weekend with temperatures returning to more normal and less snow expected.
