As we get ready to deal with some bitter and extreme cold over the next couple of days across New York State, there is some good news, we shouldn't set a new record.

A massive arctic front is set to bring temperatures down to the single digits with wind chills up to -30 in some places.

According to the weather website, coldweather.net, the coldest temperature ever recorded in New York State happened on February 18th, 1979. A temperature of -52 degrees Fahrenheit was recorded at Old Forge in Northen-Central New York.
