Looking ahead to the new year, many New Yorkers are being careful with their money and hoping to make it stretch as far as possible.

Inflation rates continue to increase and the price of everyday goods and services continue to increase.


The big question is, will every New Yorker get a check? The simple answer is no.

Based on what the Governor is proposing, here is who would be getting the inflation rebate checks.

New Yorkers who are single or file their taxes as single or as head of household who make less than $150,000 per year will get a $300 check.

Families or people who file their taxes as a joint couple and make less than $300,000 per year will get a check for $500.

The New York State government is trying to give back around $3 billion dollars extra that the state collected from the New York State sales tax.

Over 7 million New Yorkers could end up getting a one-time check in 2025.

The inflation rebate check giveback was part of Governor Hochul's budget proposal. If that proposal is approved by the New York State Legislature, the checks will be sent out in 2025, if the budget is not approved, this plan could be removed from the budget.
