Now that the New York State budget has been approved by lawmakers, the state will be sending out inflation rebate checks for the first time in state history.

Who Will Be Getting Inflation Rebate Checks In New York?

According to the newly passed state budget, there are a couple of thresholds that you have to meet to get an inflation rebate check. Based on your income and how you file your taxes will determine if and how much you will get.

Around 8 million New York State residents should be getting some form of an inflation rebate check. Here is the breakdown on who will be eligible from Governor Kathy Hochul's press release.

Joint tax filers with income up to $150,000 will receive a $400 check, and joint filers with income over $150,000 but no greater than $300,000 will receive a $300 check. Single tax filers with income up to $75,000 will receive a $200 check, and single filers with incomes over $75,000 but no greater than $150,000 will receive a $150 check.

The number used to determine if you are eligible will be based on your 2023 tax returns.

When Will The Inflation Rebate Checks Be Sent Out?

New York State officials have not yet released a date for when you can expect your inflation rebate check. They are hoping to have a majority of them sent out before the end of 2025.

What Do You Have To Do To Get Your Check?

Nothing, the New York State tax department will send out checks based on your 2023 tax returns. If you have moved, the check will be sent to your new address if you have updated it with the USPS.
