While New York State was spared from a massive snowstorm that has impacted much of the mid-west over the weekend, things could change this weekend.

Forecasters are watching a Nor'Easter that is moving up the East Coast and it could end up dumping several feet of snow in parts of New York State.

The latest weather models are calling for this Nor'Easter to quickly move up the coast and drop plenty of snow along the eastern part of New York State.

WHAT IS A NOR'EASTER?

A Nor'Easter happens when cold air moves over warmer ocean water along the Atlantic Coast and that causes strong winds and snow and rain. They can also create blizzard conditions in colder climates. Nor'Easters usally happen between October and April. They are called Nor'Easters because for the most part, the winds are moving Northeast.

Some weather models have between 2 to 3 feet of snow for New York City and other towns downstate. This could also have a major impact on air travel along the East Coast. Flights could be delayed or cancelled due to the weather.
