If you are waiting and hoping for the dog days of summer and the heat to return to New York, you might not want to hold your breath.

Looking at the long-range forecast from the Old Farmer's Almanac, it looks like we will see temperatures across New York that will be below normal for the month of July.

When most people think of July they think of summer, backyard BBQs, swimming in the pool, and of course the heat. We might get the heat this July like we have seen in the past.

The Old Farmer's Almanac is calling for plenty of rain and thunderstorms during the month of July with temperatures around 75. That would be a couple of degrees cooler than it normally is in New York.

WHAT IS THE NORMAL AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE IN NEW YORK?

Based on data, according to weatherspark.com, the average daily high temperature for New York State is 79 degrees in the month of July.

WILL IT BE WETTER THAN NORMAL IN NEW YORK IN JULY?

The good news is that even though the Old Farmer's Almanac is calling for plenty of rain and thunderstorms in July, the average about of precipitation will be around the average that New York gets every year. On average, New York gets about 3.5 inches of rain during the month of July.

Overall the forecast is calling for a hot start to July, then a cooldown in weeks 2 and 3, and then a return to more hot weather to wrap up the month as we head into August.
