How Do These Places Make Money?

So the other day, my wife and I were riding around town and we saw a bottle redemption center.

I thought it was a cool idea until we started talking about how these places make money.

The one place was offering 5 cents per can, which is the amount you get if you return a can to a recycle bin at Wal-Mart or Wegmans.

So if the redemption center is giving you the 5 cent return money how are they making money.

It was be working because I have now seen several of these places.
