Your Teen Gamer May Not Be Wasting Their Time
If you are a parent of a teen that loves video games such as "League of Legends," you may get frustrated with their hours of devotion to the game.
Guess what? Their developing skills can earn them a degree and career.
Medaille College is first in WNY to actually offer an eSports Management degree. Check out esports.medaille.edu. The degree is within the Department of Communication and Sports Studies.
Says Medaille Professor Richard Jacob,
"We are excited to offer eSports as an Academic Major. It is a new language and the demand for content, training, and management continues to rapidly grow."
Jake LaPort, President of the eSports club states,
There are so many benefits to having a club, and then a degree. Kids stay on campus longer, forge friendships built upon healthy competition.
Adds Vice President Katie Caito,
What a lot of people don't realize is eSports uses an amazing amount of brain power in muscle memory, personal reaction times, and eventually outsmarting your opponent.
According to the World Economic Forum, there is also money to be made for individuals and college campuses.
Game on!
