If you walk your dog near the lakes, beware!.  Yep, it's the time of year that blue-green Algae has grown in our ponds and lakes.

Young Man Canoeing With His Dog

WGRZ has sadly reported on dogs that have died from swimming in water where this growth is present.

Our partners in San Antonio spoke with a veterinarian about what people should be on the lookout for, and those blooms are present here in Western New York, including in Chautauqua Lake.
Here is a map from the state Department of Environmental Conservation.

It lists suspected and confirmed blooms as well as when they were reported, and you can use it to report a bloom if you suspect you've seen one.

Our fur babies are so precious, be careful!
