Targets In New York Are Now Charging Extra For This

Your next trip to Target could end up costing a little more than you expect.

As of this month, Target announced that they are now charging a fee for this at locations all across New York State.

Due to the plastic bag ban in New York State, Target announced that they will now be charging customers who use their curbside pickup and drive-up service a fee for the bags that are used for their order.

According to the website, Target is charging $1 for every 10 bags that are used.

• Drive-Up and Order Pickup orders will include a bag fee based on local and state mandates. This aligns with fees that were already in place for purchases made in Target stores at checkout. If you are purchasing from a store that charges bag fees, they will be applied to your order.
• When you place an order, we automatically pre-authorize ten bags (to ensure we cover large quantity orders). When the order is prepared, the number of bags will be adjusted based on how many bags were actually used and you’ll be charged accordingly.

The good news is that if you don't want plastic bags, you can opt out of the bags and pay the bag fee.

The only problem with that is you have to get a refund for the bags after you get your order. As of right now, there is no way to opt out of the bag fee while you are placing your order.
