Is There A Fireworks “Grace Period” In New York State?

As we get ready for the 4th of July weekend, chances are that you have already seen and heard fireworks in your neighborhood. I know I have heard fireworks all week long, which, in my opinion, is too long. So the question is, "Should there be a fireworks grace period in New York?"

Fireworks Grace Period in New York State?

First off, shooting off fireworks like bottle rockets, Roman candles, and other airborne fireworks is still illegal across New York State. Depending on where you live in the state, you can legally use certain fireworks like sparklers and ground-based fireworks that emit a spark.

But we all know that people will be using illegal fireworks all this week. Some already have, and some will through the weekend and beyond.

I have no issues with people using fireworks, but there should be a time frame when they use them. They should be shooting them off in June or after July 6th.

I think a perfect "Grace Period" for anyone using fireworks should be July 2nd through July 5th. That gives you 4 days to light up the sky with all your favorite fireworks without disrupting your neighbors.

If we all agree to this grace period, it would make things between neighbors a lot less contentious.
