The 4th of July weekend was a very busy one for first responders in Buffalo, New York. There were reports of several shootings across the city that sent over 10 people to the emergency room.

It was more than fireworks that were going off on the 4th of July in the City of Buffalo. There were reports of 11 gunshot victims who had to be taken to the hospital on America's biggest holiday.

According to online reports, there were 4 shooting victims on Stevens Street. Three victims on Glennwood Ave, 2 victims on Mosell, and one victim each on East Utica and Humber streets.

The post also stated that ECMC's emergency department had reached capacity and victims were being taken to Buffalo General Hospital.

Shootings were not the only thing local police were dealing with on the 4th of July. The Cheektowaga Police also arrested one person for DWI in the early morning hours.

On average, DWI arrests across the state increase by nearly 10% on the 4th of July. The New York State Troopers, along with local police, increased their DWI patrols and checkpoints on the holiday weekend.

Last year, Police across New York State arrested 210 impaired drivers and issued 10,497 traffic tickets statewide. Let's hope those numbers were lower, much lower this year over this past weekend.

Police also issued 258 tickets for distracted driving and 301 tickets for Move Over law violations in 2025.
