Should Fast Food Places Be Banned Near Schools?

A call to make sure Fast Food Restaurants are at least 500 yards away from schools in England has us across the pond thinking!

Should Fast Food restaurants be forced to be so many yards away from Schools? The officials from The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in England had urged lawmakers there to place a restriction on how close fast food restaurants can be to schools. They cite studies were done that show childhood obesity is higher in students that have fast food places near schools.

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, the president of the college stated:

“Kids are coming out of school hungry and finding themselves surrounded by cheap chicken shops, chip shops and other types of junk food. This just wasn’t the case 20 or 30 years ago.

“People tend to eat what’s in front of them and we need to make it easier for children to make the right choices.”
