Police Presence Will Be Elevated This Week In New York
If you are traveling this week as part of your 4th of July plan you can expect to see more police on patrol.
The New York State Troopers and local police will have extra patrols out this week as part of their STOP DWI/High Visibility Campaign where they will be looking for distracted and dangerous drivers.

The New York State Troopers increase their DWI checkpoints and patrols around all major holidays and the 4th July will be no different. Since the 4th is on Thursday, police have increased their patrols starting on Wednesday and they will continue to have an elevated presence until Sunday Night.

During last year's 4th of July campaign, New York State Troopers issued over 11,000 total tickets and arrested over 150 people for DWI. New York State Troopers also investigated over 700 accidents.

Along with New York State Troopers, border patrol will also have increased patrols. Traffic could be delayed along bridges that connect the United States to Canada.
