Expect to be stopped if you're found texting while driving thanks to a new law that makes it easier for police to enforce and ticket someone for engaging in this type of activity.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo,Tuesday signed into law an anti-texting bill.

The new law ends New York's approach, that permitted police to ticket a driver for illegal texting only if they first committed another violation, such as speeding. The law is effective immediately and now makes texting while driving a "primary" motor vehicle offense, carrying up to a $150 fine.
