
Measles Knocking On The Doorstep Of New York State
Doctors across New York State are sounding the alarm about a possible measles outbreak in the state.
Currently, there are over 600 cases of measles in Ontario, Canada, but the virus can spread quickly, and doctors are concerned that we could end up seeing the virus make its way into the "Empire State"
The New York State Department of Health issued a travel advisory in early April, citing that the virus is only a "car ride" away from New York State.
Measles is becoming a growing problem in the United States with the reported number of cases in 2025 already surpassing the total number of cases in 2024.
There have already been four reported cases in New York State in 2025.
There is a vaccine for the measles and according to the latest data, it is 93% effective at destroying the virus.
Health officials in New York are urging people who have not been vaccinated against measles to get a vaccination as soon as possible.

Some of the symptoms include high fever, cough, runny nose, small spots with white centers inside the mouth, and a red rash on the body.
