Free Overdose Awareness Week Event Today In Western New York
International Overdose Awareness Day is coming up on August 31st but today Spectrum Health and Human Services will hold their fourth annual "Not One More: Stand Together to End Overdose" event.

The free evening of remembrance and information will take place today between 5 pm and 8 pm at Veterans Memorial Park in West Seneca which is behind the Town Hall.
The event will feature representatives from 13 local agencies who will be there with informational resources. Representatives will be from Erie County’s Department of Health Harm Reduction team, Crisis Services, Spectrum Health’s Buffalo H.O.P.E. COMPHS, Endeavor Health Services, BestSelf, Save the Michaels of the World, Inc., Horizon Health Services, VA WNY Healthcare Services, and Narcotics Anonymous.

The event will also have free live music from The Kensingtons who will perform on the Lions Club bandshell and there will be plenty of activities for kids and families.

Some of those family activities include the “Imagination Playground” from the Explore & More - The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children’s Museum, “Y on the Fly” from the YMCA Buffalo Niagara, and the Healthy Cruiser from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of WNY.
Also featured at the event will be a custom-made “We Remember Them” banner designed by Spectrum Health’s Kristina Moore, RN. The banner will hang in the Town of West Seneca Community Center Atrium on selected days and people are encouraged to bring photos of loved ones who lost their lives to an overdose so they can be added to the banner.
