
Five Weird Ways to Make Food Last Longer
You may have heard of some of these before, but hey, it can't hurt repeating! Anything that helps save a little cash is A-OK in my book! :)

Apparently, if you spray cooking spray on leftover guacamole -- or avocados in general -- it keeps it from turning brown better than lemon juice!

Putting bananas in a paper bag with one apple will make the bananas ripen faster. But apparently, it's ONIONS that make potatoes sprout faster.
Conversely, storing potatoes with apples can actually prevents them from sprouting.
Don't ask me, it's science.

While they're still in a bunch, apparently this will keep them ripe 3-5 days riper, especially if they're organic.

If you have leftover lettuce, put a paper towel over it (dry), then cover the bowl with plastic wrap. The towel is supposed to suck up moisture so your salad stays crisp.
