"Big Money" Winning Powerball Ticket Sold In New York

One lucky lottery player in New York is enjoying some extra cash today.

According to the New York State Lottery, there was one "Big Money" winning ticket sold in New York State from Saturday's Powerball drawing.

That ticket won the 3rd place prize of $50,000 after it matched four out of five numbers and also had the Powerball.

The odds of winning the 3rd place Powerball prize are 1 in 913,129.18

Saturday's winning Powerball numbers were: 6-31-51-54-55 with a Powerball of 12.

No one claimed the grand prize from Saturday's drawing so the jackpot for Monday's drawing is now up to $163 million dollars.

The Powerball is drawn every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 pm.

The Powerball offers three ways to play.

POWERPLAY - For an extra $1 per ticket you can add the Powerplay to your ticket and if you win your prize could be increase by as much as 5 times the original amount.

PLAY IT AGAIN - If you really like your numbers, you can take your ticket to a lottery retailer and they will give you a ticket with the exact same numbers for the same amount of the original ticket.

MULTI-DRAW - This allows you to play Powerball several drawings in a row. You can mark the ticket and use the same numbers for up to 39 consecutive drawings.
