
Below Average Snow Totals Predicted For New York State
With a weekend of well-above-average weather across New York State behind us, it is time to focus on what is on the way, winter and snow.
We all know the cold and snow are coming, but the latest winter weather "seasonal forecast" that was released is calling for snow, but not as much as we are used to across the state.
New York State's Winter Snow Totals For 2025-26
The latest weather model is calling for plenty of snow, but it looks like a majority of that snow will be in the north and along the East Coast. and across New York State, but since we are used to lots of snow, the current forecast calls for below average amounts for much of New York State.

Syracuse is the one major city in New York State that gets the most snow every winter, with an average of around 127 inches per year. Buffalo is known for snow, since it can get walloped with Lake Effect, but on average, it gets around 95 inches of snow per year.
