If you want to maximize the amount of time you get off from work, taking your PTO on certain days around holidays and weekend could end up giving several extra days off during 2025.

Here is how you can use your PTO to get the most amount of days off in 2025.

January - Martin Luther King Jr day is on January 20th, so if you use PTO on the 17th or 21st, you will have four days off in a row.

February - Presidents's Day is on the 17th so if you take off on the 14th, you will have four days off using only one PTO day

May - Memorial Day is on the 26th, so take off the 23rd and you get four days off in a row

June - Juneteeth is on Thursday the 19th, so taking off the 20th will give you four days off in a row

July - The Fourth of July is on a Friday, so taking off the 3rd or 7th, would give you four days off in a row

Aug/Sep - Labor Day is on Monday, September 1st, so taking off August 29th or September 2nd would give you four days off in a row

October - Columbus Day is on Monday the 13th. Taking off 10th would give you four days off in a row.

November - This is when, if you are smart, you can get 13 days off. Veterans Day is on Monday the 11th, so if you take off the 8th, you get four days off in a row. Then, if you use three PTO days near Thanksgiving, you can end up getting nine days off in a row from the 22nd to the 30th.

December - You can wrap up 2025 and kick off 2026 with 13 days off by using four PTO days between 12/23 and 1/4.
