A wintery weather mix is headed to Western New York and we could see several more inches of snow before the start of the weekend.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of Western New York. It starts at 7 am on Friday and goes until 6 am on Saturday.

The advisory is in place for Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties.

Snow is expected to fall through the day accumulating between 4 to 7 inches of snow across Western New York.

This could have an impact on travel across the region with some side streets and untreated roads becoming slick and slippery.

Temperatures today will struggle to reach 32 and then temperatures will drop sharply heading into the weekend with highs in the 20s and teens for Saturday and Sunday.

Rain is in the forecast as we head into Christmas Day and that means we could end up with a green Christmas this year in Western New York.
