Summertime means summer fun, which often involves the beach or a dip in the pool!  Parents know the fun though can quickly turn to tragedy without the proper precautions...  but there may be a few things you didn't know.

Safety advocates are urging parents to keep a close eye on their children around water during the warm weather months.  Safe Kids USA  says when someone is drowning, the flailing and yelling often depicted on television and in the movies is NOT very realistic.  Instead, the victim usually slips away silently.  A child drowning could easily go unnoticed just a few feet away from you if no one is paying attention.  The group says keeping a watchful eye on children while they're swimming is the one way to prevent drownings.  Click here  to find out Safe Kid USA's "Five Truths About Children Who Drown."
