I've been told sponge candy is unique to Western New York.  My husband and daughter absolutely love the melt in your mouth treat!  I even have a friend in Boston who I send it to now and then because she can't buy it there.  So  it comes as no surprise that a local chocolate maker's sponge candy will be featured tonight on The Food Network!

The host of The Food Network show "Kid in a Candy Store" visited Watson's Chocolates back in December for a two-day shoot at its' Tonawanda production facility and the store on Transit Road.  The Buffalo News reports the crew spent nearly 20 hours shooting the candy-making process and did interviews with some of Watson's customers.  The final piece will end up being about seven minutes.  The episode will also feature a California maker of jumbo jawbreakers and a deluxe popcorn company in Las Vegas.  It's called “Crunch Time,” and airs on The Food Network tonight at 8:30pm.
