Protect Pets In New York: Avoid Sharing These Thanksgiving Foods
This Thursday is the biggest eating Holiday in New York and while most of us consider our pets part of the family, sharing your Thanksgiving Day dinner could really hurt them.
Here are some foods from the Thanksgiving Day table you should avoid sharing with your pets, no matter how cute they look when they beg for scraps.
- Gravy/Butter
- Bread (raw)
- Stuffing
- Bones/Fats/Skin
- Onions
- Garlic
- Cranberry
- Turkey (raw)
- Green Beans (cooked)
- Mashed Potatoes
- Corn (on the cob)
- Nuts
Now there is some good news. There are certain Thanksgiving Day foods that you can share without hurting your pet's belly. Feel free to share these foods with your favorite fur-baby.
- Turkey (unseasoned/cooked)
- Sweet Potatoes
- Green Beans (raw)
- Carrots (unseasoned)
- Pumpkin
- Apples
- Bread (baked)
- Corn
The best part is that your pet can even enjoy some of that pumpkin pie for dessert as well.
Make sure that the canned pumpkin is sugar-free, this can actually be good for your pet. It can help with their digestive tract. Of course, you want to make sure you feed it to them in small quantities.
For Thanksgiving and any other major holiday, the general rule should be "When In Doubt, Leave It Out". If you are not sure that the food is good for your pet, you should not feed it to them.
Also just like your uncle, you want to make sure your pet doesn't overdo it on Thanksgiving Day food.
