Amazing. Truly unbelievable. Austin Whitney was paralyzed in a car accident four years ago, but with the help of a device made by a professor at his college he was able to walk on graduation day.

Austin used what Berkeley's Professor Homayoon Kazerooni and his team of mechanical engineering students call the "Austin" exoskeleton to take those steps.  The UC Berkley Newsletter reports the device used a switch strapped to a walker that controls the exoskeleton wrapped around Austin's legs, allowing him to move forward and ultimately let go of the walker and hug Chancellor Robert Birgeneau.  The crowd roared, it was an emotional moment for everyone, including Austin.  Get your tissues ready...
