According to the Old Farmer's long-range forecast, we are getting ready for a warmer-than-normal August.
WHAT IS THE OLD FARMER'S ALMANAC?
The Old Farmer's Almanac was first published in 1792 as just The Farmer's Almanac. The "Old" was added in 1832 after it became the longest-running almanac in North America.
WHAT DOES THE OLD FARMER'S ALMANAC PREDICT?
Since it was first introduced, the Old Farmer's Almanac was used to predict the weather for the planting seasons in and around North America. The almanac is used by many farmers to help identify when is the best time to plant crop seeds, when it is time to harvest, and when you water and till. People outside of farmers use the almanac for weather information.
HOW ACCURATE IS THE OLD FARMER'S ALMANAC?
In an interview with skimagazine.com, the editor of the almanac Tim Goodwin stated that their predictions were around 80% correct.

WHAT IS THE OLD FARMER'S ALMANAC PREDICTION FOR AUGUST?
Looking ahead to the long-range forecast, the Old Farmer's Almanac is calling for a warmer than normal month of August across New York. It is calling for an average temperature of around 72 degrees, which would be 2 degrees warmer than the average for this time of year.
The Old Farmer's Almanac is also calling for below-average amounts of precipitation for the area. The average amount of precipitation is 4 inches for August and they are predicting only 2 inches of rain in the month of August.
This is good news if you are sick of the cool rainy weather, but remember the Old Farmer's Almanac is only 80% correct.
