"Children belong in the back". This is what my aunt Nancy would say as I would cry to get in the front seat. I don't know if she said that because of safety reasons or because she did not want to have a intelligent conversation with a 6 year old. I liked riding in the back of the car most times. I would play with my dolls, look out the window or read a book. There were no DVD players in my day. I did not have an I Pod and I listened to what my parents listened to in the car, "Stevie Wonder".

There are new rules for children today when it comes to auto safety. The American Academy of pediatrics is now recomending  that children should stay rear facing in their car seats until two years and preferably longer. They also recommend that your child stays in a booster seat until they are 4 feet and 9 inches tall. Some may not reach this height until they are 12. I guess my aunt Nancy was right, children stay in the back until they are 13.

I know what some parents are saying ," My kids legs are long".  Your child is flexible and they can sit with their legs folded. Believe me they will figure it out.   If you have a older child they will enjoy the booster seat. I would simply tell them that  this is "Your Chair" and no one else will sit in it but you.
