Medical Marijuana Program Starts In New York State This Week
New York State's new medical cannabis program will start on Thursday.
Under the new law, qualifying patients can get permission from their physician to obtain non-smokable forms of marijuana. Patients must also apply for a registry identification card, and will then receive the marijuana at a state-regulated dispensary.
There are now 23 states with comprehensive medical marijuana programs, and New York State is considered to be one of the most tightly regulated.
