ALERT: Massive Carrot Recall Impacts Shoppers In New York
Be careful packing your kids' lunch today. A massive recall of organic carrots has impacted shoppers in New York and several other states.
The FDA has issued a recall of baby carrots sold by Grimmway Farms due to a possible E. coli contamination that has left several people sick and one person dead.
The carrots were sold between August 14th and October 23rd at several grocery store chains including Trader Joe’s and Wegmans. While these carrots were sold nationwide, most have been sold and are in consumer households. You need to double-check your carrots if you have any in your fridge.
The FDA recommends throwing the carrots out right away if you have them
Consumers should check their refrigerators and freezers and should not eat recalled bagged whole or baby carrots. If you have these products in your home, do not eat or use them, throw them away, and clean and sanitize surfaces they touched. If you purchased organic whole or baby carrots and stored them without the original packaging and don’t know what brand they are, you should not eat them and should throw them away.
You can also bring them back to the store where you purchased them for a full refund. If you throw them out, you will need to present a receipt to get your refund.
