The way we look at the Great Lakes here in Western New York is now completely different.

In a shocking move on Monday, US President Donald Trump took to social media to claim he wants to change the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America as he gets ready for a trade war with Canada. He turned that threat into reality on Thursday.

He already renamed the Gulf of Mexico to The Gulf of America, so this time he should have come up with something more creative.

5 New/Fun Names For Lake Ontario

Let's skip the "America" part and think of some fun local names we could use to rename Lake Ontario.

Lake Josh Allen - QB1 of the Buffalo Bills is already considered by many as the King of Buffalo, and to name the Lake after him could be a huge honor. Plus Bills Mafia would not fight against this name change.

Lake Niagara - We already have Niagara Falls and Niagara River; Lake Niagara makes perfect sense, but it would have to be Lake Niagara/American Side if Trump truly wanted to get his point across.

Lake of Good Neighbors - Ok, this is a total oxymoron because changing the lake name out of spite to "Lake of Good Neighbors" is not being a good neighbor, but Buffalo is known as the City of Good Neighbors, and it fits the vibe of Buffalo. Plus, you could sell naming rights to State Farm and make some cash.

Lake Trump - While this isn't local per se, President Trump likes to put his name on things, and I can see him painting the Rainbow Bridge gold with a huge sign that says Lake Trump

Lake New York - Trump could get hyper local and change the name to Lake New York since much of the lake borders New York State.
