Man Charged With Fatal Hit And Run

The Erie County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in a fatal hit and run accident in the Town of Newstead.26-year-old Matthew Jurek of Akron turned himself into authorities, with his lawyer present, on Friday evening. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, after he was driving the vehicle that hit and killed Francis Meldrum Jr. on Indian Falls Road last week. The other passenger in the vehicle is currently cooperating with police.

Autopsy results show that Francis Meldrum Jr. died from blunt impact injuries to his body.
