Local Dad Being Charged for Crash That Killed His Son
A local man is facing charges following a deadly crash from October of 2015.
Officers announced on Tuesday that they arrested and charged 32-year-old Kevin McCabe with vehicular manslaughter after he crashed his pick-up truck into the back of a tractor trailer in the Town of Sardinia, and killed his 4-year-old son.
Investigators reconstructed the crash and determined that Kevin McCabe failed to slow down as the tractor trailer in front of him was preparing to turn into a driveway.
McCabe's truck wedged under the tractor trailer and closed Sardinia's Route 16 for several hours.
Police also determined that McCabe was driving under the influence of a controlled substance and never hit the brakes when the tractor trailer started to slow down.
McCabe's 7-year-old niece was also in the cab of his truck, and suffered minor injuries.
Kevin McCabe was arraigned in court, and a judge set bail at $10,000 cash and $50,000 bond.
