Will The Sabres’ Goathead Jersey Return For Playoffs In Buffalo?
The Buffalo Sabres are set to return to the NHL playoffs for the first time since the 2010-11 season, but what will they be wearing? Could we see the "Goathead" black and red jersey in the playoffs?
What Colors Will The Buffalo Sabres Be Wearing In The Playoffs?
The Buffalo Sabres are known for their Blue and Gold colors, but they also wore red. black, and white for 10 years between 1996 and 2006 with the famous "goathead" buffalo on the front.
The team was wearing that jersey several times this season on "retro" nights, but will we see it in the playoffs?
Sadly, the answer is no, at least for the opening round. The NHL rule states that a team must choose one primary home and one primary away jersey for each round and cannot switch jerseys during that round.

The Sabres have chosen to go with the Blue and Gold for the opening round against Boston, which mean we will not see the "goathead" to start the playoffs.
The Sabres could always make the switch for the 2nd round and then would have to continue to use that jersey until the 3rd round. That switch would also have to be approved by the league.
What do you think, so the Sabres using the "goathead" jersey in the 2nd round of the playoffs or stick with the blue and gold for the whole playoffs?
