Keon Coleman Is The Perfect Example Of Kind Of People Buffalo Needs
There is just something about Buffalo. We can't quite put our finger on it, but we know it deep down inside that this is a special place. Whether we want to tell the world about us, or we still want to keep Buffalo a secret, we have something unique here that does not exist in lots of places around the nation.
Now, at first glance, you might want to point to the food, fun, sports, and other things like architecture. But that's not it. It's something deeper. Something that truly makes Buffalo one of the best places to live.
If you don't believe me, just ask any expat who has left the region and who longs to return home. As Marv Levy once said, Where else would you rather be than right here right now?
People Like Keon Coleman Are Exactly What Buffalo Needs
What truly makes Buffalo the great place that we know and love is the people.
When you wipe away those select few people who like to live in lunacy (Red Sox Fans), you get to see the best kinds of people America has to offer. Buffalo is full of hard-working, confident yet humble, full of personality, but don't let it go to their head type of folks. The kind of people who can show off because they earned it, but they know that it's from hard work and dedication. People who reach out to those who need help, and they do it without a ton of fanfare or excitement; the kind of folks who see what needs to be done, and they go do it.
The kind of people like Keon Coleman.
You saw that spark in him as soon as he was introduced to Buffalo. We all remember him and the yellow coat right after he was drafted. Full of life, energy, personality, and a huge heart.
Just the other day, Keon gave away hundreds of backpacks to kids to help them get ready for school.
I heard about it through the grapevine. He did it with no fanfare or media, just him and a gym full of kids, talking about life, making connections, playing basketball with them, and showing everyone why Buffalo is the city of good neighbors.
We need more people like Keon.
